Artist Mel Bochner and James Meyer, curator of modern art at the National Gallery of Art, discuss the exhibition “The Double: Identity and Difference in Art since 1900.” Bochner and Meyer discuss the concept of the “double” as well as works by Bochner and other artists on view in relation to the exhibition’s themes of identity and difference, especially self-identity as defined by our own unconscious, by society, and by race, gender, and sexuality.
